Radiographs

2020-06-01 11:01 JE

Radiographs performed to assess a right TT fracture and R metacarpal fractures noted on intake exam. Patient was anesthetized with 5% isoflurane and maintained at 3% isoflurane. One lateral view of the metacarpus was taken. The patient then developed a severe bradyarrythmia and was taken off isoflurane and supplemented with oxygen. Arrythmia (suspected AV block) continued throughout prolonged recovery. Patient maintained normal respirations during recovery. Views of the tibiotarsus and whole body radiographs were taken while off anesthetic gas.
Radiographic finding: Moderate to severe cardiomegaly. Mid-shaft fracture of the right major and minor metacarpals with bridging associated with the fracture. Mid-shaft, mildly comminuted, cranially displaced right tibiotarsal fracture.

Plan: consider humane euthanasia due to non-releasable status of this patient due to heart disease.
