The patient was placed under isoflurane anesthesia and radiographs were taken. Radiographic views obtained included a right lateral, H view, and VD of the whole body. Upon evaluation of the radiographs, a complete mid-diaphyseal fracture of the left coracoid was noted. An increase in opacity was noted over the left thoracic girdle, which is consistent with hematoma formation around the fracture fragments.

Treatment plan:
The patient will be cage rested for 4 weeks, and will remain on a 1mg/kg dose of meloxicam during that time. Surgical correction of the fracture will not be attempted, as the success rate for conservative management of coracoid fractures is historically greater than surgical management. The patient will continue to receive 10% of his body weight in food, twice per day. After 4 weeks, the patient will be anesthetized for radiographs, at which time the treatment plan will be re-evaluated.
