17-227 was brought to AUSATH Radiology Service for recheck radiographs of the right ulnar and radial fractures. Lateral and caudo-cranial radiographs were taken of the right wing under general anesthesia. At both fracture sites (distal radius, proximal ulna) on radiographs, a bony callous has formed; both sites palpated accordingly. The fracture segment margins are rounded surrounded by periosteal reaction. The fractures have healed on all cortices and the patient can be turned out into LFA2 when space is available. 17-227 was recovered from anesthesia and returned to the raptor center.

Continue giving meloxicam (1.5 mg/ml soln) 1.80 ml PO in food.

2017-227 was anesthetized using isoflurane and oxygen so that PT could be done. Heart rate was monitored throughout anesthesia.
The 5mm x 5mm ulcer on the L 1st digit has not worsened.
A firm callous can be palpated over the ulna and radius.
Range of motion was normal, indicating he is finished with PT.
OS: the area where the small mass containing a foreign object was removed has a scab over it and is healing.
OD: it appears that there is no longer any swelling of the third eyelid.

2017-227 was caught by the feet and restrained properly for transport to the treatment room.
2017-227 was anesthetized using isoflurane and oxygen. The bandage was removed from his right wing and the wing was palpated to assess the fracture's healing. There was a firm callus over both fractures on the ulna and radius.
Range of motion exercises were performed by gently but firmly extending the wing and keeping it level with the body.
The wing was not rewrapped as the fracture felt stable. Rewrapping at this point would prevent ROM from being maintained where it's at.
2017-227's right eye had a 4cm mass on the lower lid, suspected to be a feather follicle cyst. It was lanced with a 22g needle.
2017-227's left third eyelid is showing improvement as it is less swollen.
2017-227 was allowed to recover from anesthesia while being restrained, and then was put back into his enclosure before full recovery to prevent struggle once fully awake.

BAEA was anesthetized and PT was done on the right wing. Both radial and ulnar callus are solid and the wing feels very stable. PROM for 5 minutes will excellent ROM at the end.

The left third eyelid is less swollen. The mass on the left lower eyelid remains the same, and no corneal irritation is evident.

There was a small amount of blood tinged mucous in the mouth after anesthesia, but could not see anything in the glottal area. Got a good look at the choanal area and nothing there. The left nares has has a bit of dried material which was cleaned away with a saline soaked swab.

Figure of 8 bandage replaced. Recovery is good.

Cytologic examination of the aspirated fluid from the third eyelid showed only a few inflammatory cells, and no bacteria or other organisms. Culture so far is negative.

Dr. Moore felt that mycoplasma or mycobacterium might be considered.

BAEA was placed under general anesthesia and physical therapy was done on the right wing. The mid-ulnar callus feels solid. No crepitus was palpable during PT. ROM was good at the start and did improve over about 5 minutes.

There is a small mass/wound at 6 oclock, ventral right eyelid.

The left third eyelid is swollen and appeared fluid filled. I obtained an aspirated of the fluid for cytology and also for culture. Both are submitted.

A figure eight bandage was reapplied.

Recovery was normal.

Removed patient from MH2 and examined patient. Very mild fresh hemorhage in oral cavity. A large swelling of the conjunctiva covering the third eyelid on the left was still noted. The swelling was firm and fluid filled. Upon puncture, a small amount of the fluid was released. We were able to lift the swollen conjunctiva to exam the third eyelid. The third eyelid looks normal in size, shape, and color. No other significant abnormalities were seen with the left eye.
Anesthetized patient with iso via facemask. Removed figure 8 wrap. Both calluses firm. Perfromed PT. Replaced figure 8 wrap. Will continue patient on meloxicam and TMS and monitor third eyelid, suspect tramua in enclosure.

227 was brought to the Auburn University Veterinary Clinic for radiographs of the right wing and cytology of the caceous plaques in the oral cavity. A plaque was removed with forceps and the ulcer underneath was swabbed and a cytology slide prepared. A second plaque was removed from the oral cavity and a cytology slide was prepared with the plaque. Slides were prepared with diff-quick stain for microscopic examination. Examination of the ulcer cytology yielded no significant findings. On the plaque cytology a predominant amount of small rods were seen. No white blood cells were found most likely because the patient is immunocompromised. Confirmed bacterial stomatitis and patient will be continued on TMS (48 mg/ml soln) 2.69 ml BID PO in food. The patient was anesthetized with Isoflurane. Lateral and caudo-cranial radiographs were taken of the right wing. A bony callous was palpated mid-ulna on the right wing. On radiographs a fracture in the middle of the right ulna and distal right radius were noted. The ends of both fractures were still sharp, but there was periosteal reactions seen at both fracture sites. Recheck radiographs are suggested in 4 weeks. Recommend right wing figure 8 bandage to stabilize radius and ulna with physical therapy twice a week during bandage changes to maintain full range of motion, cage rest, and Meloxicam (1.5 mg/ml soln) 1.80 ml PO in food. 227 was recovered from anesthesia and returned to the Raptor center.

Based on physical exam, callous and instability of the right ulna was noted most likely due to previous trauma. Radiographs are indicated to further assess the patient after pain management and stabilization has been implemented. Patient was administered Meloxicam (5mg/mL) at 1mg/kg dose (0.54mL) IM in the pectoral muscle. A figure 8 bandage was placed on the right wing to stabilize the fracture and allow for proper bone healing. Physical therapy will be needed two times a week with bandage change to assess and maintain full range of motion. Cytology of oral cavity is needed to assess caseous oral plaques. Patient will be cage rested with the bandage until no instability is present in the right ulna. Plan to switch to oral meloxicam in food if patient is eating and start oral antibiotics in food based on cytology results.
